What does "stay put" mean?

If there is a disagreement in the proposed change to a child’s IEP, federal law requires that the child remain in his or her current educational placement throughout any legal review. This is known as “stay put” provision of the IDEA. The child will continue to receive the same amount of services while the school and parent complete the dispute resolution process. IDEA requires parents to invoke “stay put” rights within 15 days of being told of the proposed change.
